The year 2005 marked another important milestone for the company. The company won a competition of tenders organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic for the operation of a shop selling traditional Czech products at the EXPO 2005 exhibition in Aichi, Japan. The company addressed the challenge to good effect and the fact that it was particularly successful in representing the Czech Republic can be illustrated by the Award for Dignified Representation of the Czech Republic at EXPO 2005 in Aichi conferred on the company by the Commissioner General of the Czech Participation at EXPO 2005, Mr Vladimír Darjanin, on 28 November 2005. The EXPO 2005 project included a children’s art competition aimed at choosing a mascot for the Czech participation. The competition was a real success considering both the number of participating elementary schools and the quality of designs. The winning design by ten-year-old schoolgirl Sára Soukupová from the city of Pilsen became the official mascot of the Czech participation, and the winner was rewarded with a trip to Japan to visit EXPO. See the EXPO 2005 section (picture supplement) for further information.
